Married at First Sight star Matthew Gwynne is opening up about marrying a stranger, Amber Bowles, on the Lifetime reality series' ninth season.

Matt, a 32-year-old professional basketball player from Raleigh, NC, was matched with Amber, a 27-year-old eighth grade English teacher currently living in the Charlotte area, by Married at First Sight experts Dr. Pepper Schwartz, Pastor Calvin Roberson, and newcomer Dr. Viviana Coles based on compatibility, goals, hobbies, religious views and more.
After meeting for the first time at their wedding ceremony, Matt and Amber's life together was documented over the course of eight weeks -- including their honeymoon and moving in together.
During an exclusive interview with Reality TV World, Matt shined some light on his dating life before the show and whether he's into Amber's Tomboy ways. Below is what he had to say.

Reality TV World: Being a pro basketball player, I can understand how traveling so much and dating long-distance would be a problem. But now that you're putting down roots in Charlotte, why not date the traditional way? Married at First Sight viewers have a hard time believing you'd have difficulty finding a woman.
Matt Gwynne: Dating the traditional way got me to where I was prior to marrying a stranger, single and searching. I was hoping the experts and the process could produce a different result and find my life partner.
Reality TV World: Amber made it clear she's a total tomboy in that she doesn't like glitz, glam or even wearing makeup. How do you feel about that? Does that bother you at all or do you consider it a turn-on?
Matt Gwynne: I like a woman who takes care of themselves and looks presentable at the right times. I think every woman is different and as long as they are confident and happy with their appearance that's what's important. I personally like a little bit of makeup and a woman who is into style/fashion.

Reality TV World: How hard was it to tie the knot without your parents at the ceremony? Did you worry the fact you're estranged from your parents might be a dealbreaker for your wife?
Matt Gwynne: It was difficult for me to not have my family there. We used to be very close and I still love them. But in this particular situation I had to make a tough decision to not have them there. I hope it's not an issue and I hope my wife understands the situation in the long run.
