But Michaela suggested on the September 8 episode of Married at First Sight: Unfiltered that her connection with Zack was lacking a strong foundation.
"When it comes to getting physical, you and Zack are past the friend zone, but do you feel like you developed a friendship at this point?" Unfiltered host Jamie Otis asked Michaela.
"No," Michaela replied, "I don't think we've developed any kind of friendship."
When explaining how that's possible a couple of weeks into getting to know one another, Michaela said, "We jumped in so fast," and then the pair was forced to spend a week apart due to Zack's coronavirus diagnosis.
"So that's what we do need to work on," Michaela acknowledged, "is finding out, 'Who are you? Nice to meet you again!'"
Jamie therefore asked Michaela, "Do you think maybe if you had held off on that [physical] aspect [of your relationship] that maybe you would be better friends?"
"No," Michaela admitted, before she revealed with a laugh, "we would just be sexually frustrated."
Once Zack and Michaela reunited after spending a week apart, their relationship quickly began to crumble and the couple had their first explosive fight.
Michaela was angry Zack decided to sleep in a separate bedroom one night, and then she accused him of disappearing the next morning without a word.

But Zack recalled falling asleep in a separate room by accident and explained to his wife that he had texted her in the morning about having to take his dog Bella to daycare.
Zack said when he returned home only a couple of hours later, Michaela had already packed up her belongings and left the Houston apartment.
To that point, Michaela called her husband "a damn f-cking liar," among other curse words.
Zack, who said he felt hurt and abandoned, insisted he never lied to his wife or ignored her phone calls, and he said he never thought such a simple task -- taking Bella to daycare -- would blow up like it did.
Zack therefore revealed on a previous episode of Unfiltered that he felt like he and Michaela were "definitely at a crossroads" in their marriage.
Prior to marrying a stranger, Zack apparently had a history of dating women who would overreact and have dramatic responses to disagreements rather than being able to communicate well and talk things out.
As a result, Zack told the Married at First Sight cameras he was afraid his marriage to Michaela would be a repeat of what hasn't worked in the past.
Zack seemed to be immediately turned off by Michaela's anger and outburst, and even after Michaela apologized and cried about being wrong, Zack chose to sleep away from his wife.

"It's how we handle conflict [that's the problem]," Zack told Michaela on the latest episode of Married at First Sight's thirteenth season.
"And that's something I don't know how we can change. I'm honestly scared to tell you how I feel right now, because I'm scared you'll blow up."
When Michaela asked Zack to speak his mind, he responded, "When I pulled up [to our housewarming party], I got anxiety. I did not want to come in here. I felt horrible. It was more anxiety than the wedding day, I kid you not."
Zack proceeded to tell the cameras that he felt "heartbroken" because he had been hoping to find The One and his forever partner on Married at First Sight.
"I've wanted this my whole life and so it's definitely hurtful. I'm definitely not happy about where we are. At this moment, I don't know if we'll be able to resolve this," Zack explained.
Married at First Sight's thirteenth season, which currently airs on Wednesday nights at 8PM ET/PT on Lifetime, also stars Gil Cuero and Myrla Feria, Rachel and Jose, Brett and Ryan, and Johnny Lam and Bao.
