Married at First Sight star Noi Phommasak has claimed Steve Moy never told her the details of his self-employment and so the whole situation confused her.

Noi, 33, and Steve, 38, were matched by Married at First Sight experts Dr. Pepper Schwartz, Dr. Viviana Coles, and Pastor Calvin Roberson to marry as strangers on the Lifetime reality series' fourteenth season.

Noi fell in love with Steve a week into their relationship, and they quickly consummated their marriage and continued to build a strong foundation for the rest of the extreme experiment.

But Steve's refusal to get a part-time or full-time job began presenting problems in their relationship, especially since Steve -- a former sales engineer who claimed he was in a good place financially with a lot of savings -- expected Noi to take on some of their household chores while she was working full-time as a talent acquisition coordinator.

During the March 30 broadcast of Married at First Sight: Afterparty, Noi watched back a Season 14 clip in which she was confiding in her sister about the issues in her marriage to Steve.

"His issue with me is, like, 'You should be doing more around the house,'" Noi tells her sister in the clip.

"And I'm sitting here, like, 'Wait a minute. You're telling me we need to have equal effort in this marriage when, like, you have more free time than I do -- for obvious reasons.'"

Noi goes on to explain how Steve said he didn't know what to do because Noi wouldn't talk to him about her expectations or share a long-term plan with him for their future.

"I'm like, 'Why do I need to give you the gameplan?' The gameplan is you need to find [a job]... That's where I'm at right now," Noi complains.

Noi told Afterparty host Keshia Knight Pulliam that she was "really frustrated" at that time and needed to "vent" her feelings and share her side of what was going on.

Keshia clarified how Steve was not "unemployed" but rather "self-employed."

"So are you okay with that or are you saying you're not even seeing self-employed?" Keshia asked.

"Well what is confusing, I think, was that it's not really obvious. So yes, he's self-employed, but I don't know the details of that," Noi admitted.

Noi's sister was clearly protective of Noi, who added, "Surprisingly, at the end of this conversation, she said, 'Well, you guys can work it out. It's your choice.'"

But Noi was starting to guard herself and protect her heart with only three weeks remaining until "Decision Day."

Noi admitted on Afterparty how she was pulling back from Steve because of their frequent "arguments and disagreements."

Noi putting walls up was evident on last week's episode when she said she wouldn't want to live with Steve after Decision Day because the idea of combining their lives so quickly made her feel uncomfortable.

The root of the tension between the couple seemed to be Noi's annoyance with Steve's alleged lack of motivation and ambition professionally.

Noi couldn't believe Steve had asked her help take care of their dog Sushi and clean one of their Boston apartment's bathrooms when she was the only spouse in their marriage working a full-time job.

Noi also apparently got offended when Steve told his wife that her work only benefited her whereas his efforts -- cooking and cleaning -- benefited the both of them.

Noi said she'd be happy if Steve even worked a part-time job, and she suggested that her husband didn't have his stuff together. Noi said she never thought she'd date -- nevermind marry -- a man like that.

Noi envisioned welcoming three children with her husband someday, and so she always thought she would marry a provider.

Meanwhile, Steve thought he was contributing heavily to the marriage, and he kept insisting he would support Noi and always be secure financially. Steve has said that if he needed to take a job for income, he absolutely would.

"I'm contributing three or four times as much. I'm not asking [Noi] to contribute more, so in the now, I don't think there's a problem," Steve explained to his co-star Mark Maher on the latest Season 14 broadcast.

"But I think there's a perception problem and I think there's a future problem."

Steve told Mark that he needed his wife to be clear about her expectations for their lifestyle and believe in him. Steve thought he had proven -- through "verbal and physical expressions of love" -- how committed he was to Noi in their marriage.

Married at First Sight's fourteenth season also stars Mark's wife Lindsey Georgoulis, Jasmina Outar and Michael Morency, and Katina Goode and Olajuwon Dickerson.

The season's fifth couple, Chris Collette and Alyssa Ellman, divorced only one week into the process.
