Married at First Sight star Tristan Thompson was so shocked by his new wife Mia Bally's detainment in a Texas airport that he thought producers were pulling a trick on him.

While getting ready to travel to Cancun, Mexico for their honeymoon, however, Mia was pulled away by authorities for questioning and subsequently spent two days in custody until she could reunite with her concerned and overwhelmed spouse.

"I was really excited to go [to Cancun]. It was my first time really traveling with a significant other. I was just like, 'What can go wrong?' Going in, I was really excited," Tristan told Jamie Otis on Tuesday night's Married at First Sight: Unfiltered broadcast.
So when asked what was going through his mind when Mia was detained, Tristan replied, "Really, just complete shock."
"You know, I was confused about the situation. I first thought it was a prank. I thought it was a joke!" Tristan confessed.
"I was like, 'Seriously? This is a joke. Did one of the producers put you up to this? This is a funny joke from one of them.' And it was like, 'No, this is real!' And that's why I'm sitting there, like, 'This sh-t's real."

While Mia was gone, Tristan and Married at First Sight's producers obtained a copy of a warrant that had been issued in early February for her arrest. Jared Evans, an alleged ex-boyfriend, reportedly claimed Mia had stalked him on multiple occasions in the 13 months that followed their December 2016 break-up and made unauthorized purchases with his credit card.
In the latest episode, Mia told the cameras once she was released from custody without bail, "My car was stolen with all of my information and stuff in it, so the police say it is identity theft and that whoever stole my car also used my information to access whatever other charges they did."
She added, "[Police] didn't tell me everything since it ended up not being me."
Mia called the alarming and unflattering allegations in her arrest warrant "100 percent false," blaming the situation on "a complete mistake of identity."

Pastor Calvin Roberson said in Tuesday night's episode Mia's story was "one of the craziest things" he had ever heard, but the three Married at First Sight experts -- and Tristan -- chose to believe her because she seemed like a great person and she said all charges against her had been dropped.
"I got married at first sight to find a lifelong partner that would be there for me and have my back -- commitment and loyalty, and I think I found that with Tristan. He's amazing," Mia said in a confessional at the end of the broadcast.
Tristan will appear on Married at First Sight: Unfiltered next week as well to discuss the incident regarding Mia's detainment and arrest warrant.
