It's been a bad week for The Bachelor's producers and the show's fairy-tale premise.

On the same night that the ABC reality dating show's After the Final Rose broadcast was trotting them out as a "success story" counterpoint to eleventh-season The Bachelor star Brad Womack's decision to reject both of his final suitors, Mary Delgado was arrested for assaulting Byron Velvick, the fiance that proposed to her at the end of The Bachelor's sixth season.
Delgado was arrested early Wednesday morning by Pinellas County police and charged with domestic battery, Tampa Bay's WFTS-TV ABC affiliate reported Friday.
Delgado was booked into the Pinellas County Jail around 12:30AM Wednesday morning and was released on her own recognizance later that afternoon, WFTS reported.
According to the Pinellas County Sheriff's Office arrest affidavit, Delgado hit Velvick in the face, causing a cut on his upper lip. The 40-year-old Tampa resident subsequently admitted to striking Velvick, WFTS reported.

Delgado and Velvick met during filming for The Bachelor's Fall 2005 sixth-season, which ended with Velvick proposing marriage to Delgado. While the couple has yet to wed and delayed their wedding plans several times, they've remained engaged over the last three years as Velvick moved from Nevada to Tampa.
The couple made an appearance during ABC's Tuesday night The Bachelor: After the Final Rose broadcast, which was filmed last Friday in Los Angeles and featured Womack attempting to explain his reasons for rejecting both of his final two suitors -- DeAnna Pappas and Jenni Croft -- during the Monday night broadcast of The Bachelor's eleventh-season finale.

During the special, Delgado and Velvick said they planned to wed next November.
