Preparations were under way Sunday for a memorial service in Chicago for the slain mother, brother and nephew of singer-actress Jennifer Hudson.
The estranged husband of Hudson's sister Julia has been called a person of interest in the case, but has not been charged. He is being held on an alleged parole violation.
The Chicago Tribune said the dead are to be eulogized during a private gathering Sunday afternoon at the Pleasant Gift Missionary Baptist Church. The church's doors are then to open for a public memorial from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m.
Hudson, who won an Oscar for her work in the movie musical "Dreamgirls," is not expected to attend Sunday's events. She is said to be going to a private service for her three family members Monday, the Tribune noted.
