Miranda Lambert said she found herself inside bars more after her divorce from Blake Shelton.
"Anyways, I found myself in Midtown in Nashville three nights in a row at last call and with the lights coming on, and I'm still sitting there. So I wrote a song about it," she continued about the origins surrounding her song "Ugly Lights" from her sixth studio album The Weight of These Wings.
Lambert and Shelton called it quits in July of 2015 after four years of marriage.
"This is not the future we envisioned and it is with heavy hearts that we move forward separately. We are real people, with real lives, with real families, friends and colleagues. Therefore, we kindly ask for privacy and compassion concerning this very personal matter," the pair said in a joint statement at the time.
Lambert has been dating singer Anderson East while Shelton is in a relationship with his fellow "The Voice" coach Gwen Stefani."I feel really strongly about the only talking I needed to do, I've done and it's on tape," the 33-year-old said previously on Instagram about commenting on her split from Shelton.
"All the parts of me, the parts of the pain I went through, everything that happens to a person in their life - especially in the last couple years for me - is on this record."
