The Hills: New Beginnings has added former The O.C. star, Mischa Barton, to its cast mix of original stars and fresh faces.

MTV has announced Mischa, who rose to fame by playing Marissa Cooper on Fox's The O.C. from its 2003 premiere until her character's Season 3 death in 2006, will star on MTV's revival of the series, which will debut in 2019.
Mischa will join original cast members Audrina Patridge, Brody Jenner, Frankie Delgado, Heidi Pratt, Jason Wahler, Justin "Bobby" Brescia, Spencer Pratt, Stephanie Pratt and Whitney Port as well as newcomers Kaitlynn Carter, Jennifer Delgado and Ashley Wahler.
The Hills: New Beginnings will follow the cast members as they navigate their personal and professional lives in Los Angeles, CA. For some of the stars, that includes parenting.
Mischa confirmed her casting on The Hills: New Beginnings through an Instagram post on Wednesday night.

Mischa posted a video of herself listening to The Hills' theme song, "Unwritten" by Natasha Bedingfield, before saying, "Welcome to The Hills, b-tch."
Along with Mischa's video and her witty reference to The O.C. came the following caption: "The secret's out... I'm joining the cast of The Hills. When MTV approached me with the chance to be a part of the reality show that was inspired by The OC, it felt like the perfect opportunity for an irresistibly inviting new chapter."
Ironically, Mischa's The O.C. series inspired MTV's pioneering reality series Laguna Beach: The Real Orange County, which premiered in 2004 and ultimately led to production on The Hills, which aired for six seasons from 2006 to 2010.
The fact MTV had ordered a revival of The Hills was initially announced in late August at the 2018 MTV Video Music Awards held at New York's Radio City Music Hall. Several of the cast members made an appearance, including Heidi and Spencer, to celebrate the new show.
Heidi and Spencer recently told TMZ that although they are not in Mischa's social circle, they are ecstatic about her joining the cast.

"I've been praying for this for years," Spencer admitted. "It's a miracle... Being on the greatest show to ever exist in the history of the world, I think it will be very good for her."
"I think she's ready to roll!... She's very welcome," Heidi added.
In addition to competing on Dancing with the Stars' 22nd season back in 2016, Mischa is also known for being a child star in films such as Notting Hill and The Sixth Sense.
As previously reported, The Hills' biggest names, Lauren Conrad and Kristin Cavallari -- both of whom had also starred on Laguna Beach -- will not participate in The Hills: New Beginnings due to other responsibilities and projects.
