Mitchell Lee was matched with Dennis Drummond for a Battle on behalf of Blake Shelton's team on The Voice's thirteenth season.

The rockers from Nashville were required to sing "Mr. Jones" by Counting Crows, and Blake admitted that choosing between them was going to be his toughest decision so far this season.

Blake's team adviser, the Rascal Flatts, helped prepare Mitchell and Dennis for their important performance, and at one point, a group member was shown saying Mitchell's downfall could potentially be his overconfidence and underestimating his competition a little bit.

"You know, when I heard that, I was a little surprised," Mitchell, a 29-year-old woodworker from Columbia, SC who currently resides in Nashville, TN, told Reality TV World after the Battle aired on NBC.

"But I knew that they were also having to look at what could be a weakness for me. And I think that his answer, in my opinion, was what could be, not that he saw it. Because I hope what he saw was what was really going on, is that we were just having too much fun to think about the competition aspect of it."

Mitchell therefore explained he may have appeared very confident just because he wasn't focusing on the fact there would only be one winner.

"It never really felt like a battle," Mitchell continued, "you know, we hung out, we ate lunch, drank coffee, talked about the song, jammed to the song in the hotel room. There was never a point for me where it turned into feeling like a battle but more like two buddies jamming to a song on a stage trying to give a great performance."

After the Battle, Blake declared Mitchell the winner because he noticeably had "clear and perfect pitch." Since the show is called The Voice, Blake also thought it was appropriate to advance the arguably better vocalist.

However, Dennis, a 27-year-old musician from Warren, OH who currently resides in Nashville, TN, was stolen by Adam Levine since the artist is "so unique" and the coach previously fought hard for him in the Blind Auditions.

"I would say that performance was Dennis and I both kind of going back to the home base where we both were used to playing in bands, and being up on that stage both having our guitars in hand, it felt like we were in a band together," Mitchell told other reporters during The Voice conference call.

"And so moving into that performance, I think we both felt so comfortable in the situation and also the way that we decided to split the song lyrics up and make it so conversational that it really was just two guys having a great time performing for everyone."

Overall, Mitchell didn't think it was "too tough of a performance," and he added that the Battle was "really just about showing us in our own elements and having a great time doing it."

Mitchell and Dennis will both be moving on to "The Knockout Round" in the weeks ahead on The Voice.
