MTV and Rolling Stone have announced that I'm From Rolling Stone, a new reality drama that will follow six young writers over the course of a summer as they work towards earning a highly sought-after position at the music and pop culture magazine, will premiere on Sunday, January 7 at 10:30PM ET/PT.

Chosen from a press box containing thousands of writers who applied for the opportunity to appear on the series, the six writers selected were immediately given a pad and pen to cover a wide variety of assignments including artist and entertainment profiles as well as coverage of politics, pop culture and national affairs.  From the Roskilde Music Festival to Lollapalooza, interviewing everyone from We Are Scientists to The Roots, MTV documented the aspiring journalists' entire experience.

As they discover the newsroom is a pressure cooker of meeting deadlines and dealing with opinionated editors, the I'm From Rolling Stone writers will also have to compete with one another for story assignments with the hopes of being offered a contract as a contributing editor at the magazine, which reaches thirteen million readers every two weeks.

The six writers competing on I'm From Rolling Stone -- and their MTV supplied profiles -- are:

Colin Stutz, a 19-year-old USC journalism major and rock musician from Eugene, OR

A young, wide-eyed college kid, Colin is as much indie rocker as reporter. His musical tastes are exactly in line with Rolling Stone, but deep inside Colin doesn't know if he's ready for the big-time journalism scene. Will his natural charm and ease convince his bosses (and himself) that he's ready?

Krishtine De Leon, a 23-year-old editor for Ruckus Magazine and freelance hip-hop writer from San Francisco, CA

With a ghetto background, Krish is all hip-hop, all the time. She wants to bring the 'hood to Rolling Stone. Krish is a true fighter and will do whatever it takes to earn the full-time job at the end of the summer. Used to being a big fish in a little pond, can Krish keep her mouth and attitude in check at Rolling Stone?

Krystal Simpson, a 23-year-old Hartnell College journalism major, classic rock fan and fashion fanatic from Salinas, CA

Krystal is the most knowledgeable fan of Rolling Stone, having been spoon-fed the magazine since she was a kid. She is more in love with the idea of working at Rolling Stone than she is with the idea of doing the work. Can Krystal get past being a fan and find her way as a hard-edged reporter?

Peter Maiden, a 22-year-old UC Berkley sociology major from Sydney, Australia

Peter is determined to shed his image as a partier and to prove that, despite his relative lack of journalism experience, he is a contender. Hardworking and bright, Peter recognizes that his dedication will take him far. But the question is, does he have the natural writing ability that is required to work for Rolling Stone?

Nothing shakes this highly confident, skilled writer. Tika keeps a low-profile around the office, but makes no secret about how superior she believes she is to the other writers once outside of work. She believes that she's a shoo-in at Rolling Stone, but do her bosses see what Tika sees?

Russell Morse, a 25-year-old cultural and political writer for Pacific News Service and former editor of Yo! and The Beat Within from San Francisco, CA

Talented, explosive, self-sabotaging and admittedly bi-polar, Russell is the best writer in the group. This job at Rolling Stone is his to lose, and he knows it. Unfortunately, Russell doesn't know how to handle success and is prone to acting out. Will Russell be able to win against himself and his bad-boy behavior?
