Production on The Real World installment set to take place in the nation's capitol is scheduled to begin this summer, and it is currently slated to premiere next year.
"The charged atmosphere of Washington D.C., the center of our country's social and political change, will provide an electric setting for this next season of The Real World," said MTV programming executive Tony DiSanto.
"We are thrilled to be filming our classic franchise in the heart of where history is being made. It adds a whole new dimension to the great characters and drama our viewers expect and love from The Real World."
An April ad placed by The Real World's Bunim/Murray Productions looking for an accountant in Washington, D.C. to work for "a major reality TV production company" on a job that lasts roughly 20 weeks led to reports that the capitol would serve as an upcoming setting for the show.

Similar to the recently-concluded The Real World: Brooklyn and upcoming The Real World: Cancun -- which will premiere June 24 -- the show's Washington, D.C. installment will feature eight strangers instead of seven.
"Young people have never been more engaged in what's happening in this country and Washington, D.C., is the perfect place for The Real World cast to express their opinions and pursue their passions," said creator Jonathan Murray.
Despite the often unruly antics that come with housing The Real World's cast, Washington D.C. Mayor Adrian M. Fenty said the show is welcome in the nation's capitol.
"In a time when our country has witnessed the impact and spirit of our nation's young people, it is a pleasure to welcome MTV and The Real World cast to the District of Columbia as they utilize the immense opportunities that the District's backdrop will undoubtedly provide," said Fenty.
In March, MTV renewed the long-running reality TV series for four additional seasons -- extending it through its 26th edition.
