Lauren Conrad's departure wasn't enough to stop The Hills from rolling along.

While they won't feature Conrad -- who announced in February that the show's initial fifth-season episodes in the spring would be her last -- the new episodes will include returning cast members Audrina Patridge, Lauren "Lo" Bosworth, Brody Jenner, Holly Montag, and newlyweds Heidi and Spencer Pratt.
In addition, The Hills will also feature former Laguna Beach star (and Conrad nemesis) Kristin Cavallari -- who made a cameo to tease fans during the Pratt's wedding in May.
"I've seen a little, but honestly, she came in like a whirlwind ever since the first day at the wedding, the Speidi wedding," Montag told MTV News.
Spencer went as far as to credit Cavallari with The Hills' success and welcomed her to the cast.
"There wouldn't be a Hills if there wasn't a Kristin Cavallari, because the Laguna Beach brand wouldn't have had the power," he told MTV News.
"We still love Lauren, we'd love to have you come back on the show. But hey, you were the calm, quiet girl trying to steal Kristin's boyfriend, the cool girl at the high school. So shout-out to the cool girl joining The Hills!"
Spencer was referring to the infamous Laguna Beach battle between Conrad and Cavallari, as Cavallari was dating Conrad's childhood friend Stephen Colletti when The Hills predecessor premiered in Fall 2004.
While Conrad moved to Los Angeles and appeared in Laguna's The Hills spinoff, Cavallari started acting in the scripted genre with several cameos and also co-hosted the short-lived UPN reality series Get This Party Started.
In December 2007, it was rumored that The Hills producers were "looking into the possibility" of bringing Cavallari onto the show, and while Conrad subsequently denied the rumors, Cavallari has claimed there was some truth to it.
"Well, I'm coming back for a few reasons," Cavallari told MTV News in May.
"One is they've been asking me to do The Hills for a while now, and I just thought, what was the point of going on The Hills when it was Lauren's show and all it would really do is relive high school drama, which was Laguna Beach. So I thought with Lauren leaving, it's kind of the perfect time."
