NBC has announced The Biggest Loser: Couples' second edition -- which is also the reality weight-loss competition's seventh overall edition -- will premiere Tuesday, January 6 at 8PM ET/PT.

The Biggest Loser: Couples' second edition, which NBC originally announced in February while the couples format's first edition was still airing, was originally scheduled to serve as The Biggest Loser's sixth edition and air as part of NBC's Fall 2008 primetime programming lineup.
However that plan changed in April when NBC announced the Fall 2008 installment would be a "family edition" featuring teams consisting of two adult family members each.
The Biggest Loser: Families' finale is currently scheduled to air December 16, which means they'll only be a three-week gap between between the end of The Biggest Loser's family edition and the debut of the its second couples edition.
Alison Sweeney will reprise her hosting role for The Biggest Loser: Couples, which will also include the return of trainers Jillian Michaels and Bob Harper.

The Biggest Loser: Couples' premiere was announced as part of an overall January 2009 programming announcement in which NBC also announced premiere dates for two other reality series: Superstars of Dance and Howie Do It, a new Howie Mandel-hosted series.
Superstars of Dance, a new dance-themed reality competition series from American Idol creator Simon Fuller and former Idol executive producer Nigel Lythgoe, will premiere Sunday, January 4 at 9PM ET/PT; while Howie Does It, a new unscripted comedy series that Mandel will both star in and produce, will debut on Friday, January 9 at 8PM ET/PT.
Noticeably absent from NBC's January 2009 primetime programming schedule is The Celebrity Apprentice's second season, which was ordered last winter and filmed this fall. Instead, The Celebrity Apprentice's second-season premiere is expected to formally announced when NBC reveals its post-January midseason schedule.
