The Baby Borrowers has a new due date.

NBC has announced The Baby Borrowers, a reality series that follows five young couples as they're thrust into adulthood, will premiere Wednesday, June 25 at 8PM ET/PT.

The network began production on The Baby Borrowers in March 2007 and initially scheduled it for a February 18 debut.

However in January the network announced The Baby Borrowers would "move to a later date," and the American adaptation of a British reality series has now found a home as part of NBC's Summer 2008 primetime programming schedule.

The Baby Borrowers will follow the five participating couples -- ranging in age from 18 to 20 -- over the course of three weeks as they are given a home and a job in preparation for the arrival of their first baby, complete with pre-natal classes and a fake belly for the fake mom-to-be.

The couples will then be entrusted with caring for a baby -- and every few days -- the child each couple has gets older, changing from an infant to a toddler to a pre-teen to a teenager.  The last task has the couples caring for an elderly grandparent, which represents what might be in-store for them.

Richard McKerrow, who executive produced the original BBC version of the series, will reprise that role for NBC along with Tom Shelly.  The Baby Borrowers is produced by Love Productions.

The Baby Borrowers is one of several reality series that NBC is planning to air this summer.

American Gladiators' second season will premiere Monday, May 12 at 8PM ET/PT; Last Comic Standing's sixth season will debut Thursday, May 22 at 9:30PM ET/PT; Nashville Star's sixth season will premiere Monday, June 9 at 9:30PM ET/PT; and America's Got Talent's third season will premiere Tuesday, June 24 at 9PM ET/PT.
