"The Dukes of Hazzard" star and pop singer Jessica Simpson was announced Thursday as the opener for the 32nd Annual People's choice Awards on CBS.

Simpson's performance was confirmed by awards show executive producer Carol Donovan, who praised Simpson's "undeniable charisma,""Access Hollywood" reported.

Simpson is nominated in the category "Favorite Song From a Movie" for "These Boots Are Made For Walkin'."

The People's Choice Awards honoring favorite performers in television, movies and music will be broadcast live next Tuesday on CBS.
