Nick Cannon says the harshest part of his divorce from Mariah Carey is dealing with public opinion.

The 34-year-old actor and "America's Got Talent" host opened up about his split from the 45-year-old singer in an interview with HuffPost Live. Cannon and Carey have kept largely mum on their breakup, and the star explained the public eye has made the experience difficult.

"Every family, every relationship, all these people go through things and they deal with it the way that they choose to detail with it," he related. "But to have someone judging the way you're dealing with your personal life is always like, 'Hey, that's a little hard.' But I also know what I signed up for."

"If someone asks me a question, I know how to answer it," he continued. "If I have to say, 'At this time I'd rather not say that,' or misdirect, it is what it is. But it's truly, at the end of the day, it's all about why these people feel or why the public feels like they need information and you have to tell them."

Cannon and Carey married in April 2008, and welcomed fraternal twins Monroe and Moroccan in April 2011. News of the couple's divorce broke in August, and Cannon later confirmed he and the singer had split some months before. The actor declared in September he will "always love" Carey, but recently covered up his "Mariah" tattoo with religious art.
