Nick Lachey is disappointed to leave Dancing with the Stars with his professional partner Peta Murgatroyd, but the pair agrees their time was probably up.

Nick and Peta talked about their Monday-night elimination from Dancing with the Stars during a joint appearance Tuesday on Good Morning America. In his final words on the show, Nick had said he began the Season 25 competition as "not a very good dancer" and was departing the same way.

"There's a little bit of truth to that. I'm not the best dancer, but it really wasn't about that for me," Nick said on GMA.

"It was about the experience; it was about the journey that she and I got to go on together. And I couldn't be more proud of the effort that we put in every week. Obviously we'd still love to be in it, you know, we're human, we're competitors, we'd love to still be there -- but I have no regrets at all. I'm very, very happy with what we did and what we brought to the ballroom."

After Nick and Peta danced a western-inspired samba for Dancing with the Stars' "A Night at the Movies" theme on Monday night, Peta actually took to Twitter to thank her celebrity partner for giving his all every single minute of the competition.

Peta's tweet seemed to suggest she had a feeling the couple was going to be eliminated at the end of the broadcast.

"I did [have an inkling]. Obviously you never know for sure, 100 percent, but I feel like because we were in the bottom two, I think it was three weeks in a row or something like that, I feel like it was probably our time," Peta confessed on GMA.

The TV personality and 98 Degrees member's wife, Vanessa Lachey, is still in the running for Dancing with the Stars' mirrorball trophy this season. Vanessa is partnered with Peta's husband, pro dancer Maksim Chmerkovskiy.

"I couldn't be more proud of her," Nick said of his wife and the mother of his three children. "We all have different paths on the show, and she and Maks are on a great trajectory, I think. They're right there where they want to be. I think they get better each and every week, and yeah, I'll be rooting for her every week."

Peta believes that Nick's ouster from the competition will actually help Vanessa going forward on the show.

"Absolutely. I think they're doing so well people were behind them from the beginning, but yes, I think Nick's votes will definitely carry over to Vanessa and Maks," Peta admitted.

Though their elimination came somewhat early, Peta called Nick "the spirit of the show," explaining that Dancing with the Stars is about having fun, showing "personality" and "making people fall in love with you" -- not just about the competition aspect.

And Nick said he definitely had "a blast" this season.

"My favorite part of this whole process was going to work with her every day in the studio, just grimy and sweaty, and we had such a blast together. That really was the highlight for me, so I enjoyed every second," Nick revealed.

And another silver lining in Nick's ouster is the fact he can spend more time with his children now and cheer on his wife from the Dancing with the Stars audience.

"My son said to me, 'Daddy, I don't want you to dance anymore,' because he was so sick of both of us being gone all the time. So there's a silver lining there. I get to go back to being dad, and I can sit front row and cheer my wife on to the finals now. It's great!" Nick said.

As for the eight remaining couples, Peta and Nick shared their predictions for how the rest of the season might unfold.

"Oh gosh, everyone is actually really, really good," Peta said.

"I love [Mark Ballas and Lindsey Stirling]. I think they have done a really incredible job. Mark's very clever with his choreography. Last night's performance was spectacular -- one of the best I've ever seen. Obviously I would love Maks and Vanessa to take it home and keep it in the family, but you know, it's a very talented [crew]."

"[Jordan Fisher] is fantastic. Lindsey is great, and look what [Frankie Muniz] is doing!" Nick added. "I mean, it's like, everyone brings it every week and it's really fun to be a part of it and watch it."
