Nick Viall is very single after his breakup from The Bachelor winner Vanessa Grimaldi, and he's apparently going to stay that way for a while.

"I don't know if I felt like it needed to happen. But, you know, it kind of is what it is," Nick, 36, told Ben Higgins and Ashley Iaconetti on their Almost Famous podcast about the end of his romance.
"It's never fun, right? I don't know. Being single kind of sucks. But what can you do? I've always been the eternal optimist of pushing forward, so yeah. I'm fine."
Nick and Vanessa, a 30-year-old former special education teacher from Montreal, Canada, got engaged on the Season 21 finale of The Bachelor, which aired in March, but they publicly announced their split five months later in August.
"I'm trying to stay positive, being around friends and family. It helps me stay positive. And you know, what helps me is just kind of believing in yourself. It's obviously easy to get insecure and feel bad about yourself. You get in your head about things when things aren't working for you," Nick explained.

Prior to starring on The Bachelor earlier this year, Nick finished as the runner-up on both Andi Dorfman and Kaitlyn Bristowe's seasons of The Bachelorette. He also looked for love on Season 3 of Bachelor in Paradise last year but fell short of finding it.
"I'll always be incredibly envious of those who have been a part of this world and been able to have a successful relationship... Unfortunately I wasn't one of them, and what are you going to do?" Nick said.
Nick noted that his breakup from Vanessa is still "relatively recent" and left him "a little scarred," so he's definitely "nowhere close to dating at this point."
"At this point in my life, there are a lot of unknowns. I didn't necessarily expect to be in the position that I am in from a personal standpoint relationship-wise," Nick admitted.
Nick also has fears and insecurities about jumping back into the dating pool following four failed attempts to secure a future wife on shows within The Bachelor franchise.

"My greatest insecurity when it comes to dating is... that the woman I might find myself to be interested in, I won't get the opportunity to get to know her in fear I am going to be pre-judged about my experiences... This perception I might have a lot of baggage," Nick confessed.
When Nick and Vanessa announced their split last month, the former couple said they were ending their engagement with "a great amount of heartbreak."
"We gave this relationship our all and we are saddened that we did not get the fairytale ending we hoped for," the pair had said in a media statement. "We will continue to be there for each other no matter what. This hasn't been an easy decision, however, as we part ways, we do so with lots of love and admiration for each other."
