Nick Viall never gave up on The Bachelorette star Andi Dorfman, as the runner-up bachelor was looking for answers and a second chance ever since filming concluded in May in the Dominican Republic, where Andi got engaged to Josh Murray.

Nick called his elimination one of the "most painful days" of his life. He had a lot of questions once he returned home, which even his family members admitted he deserved answers to.
"I don't think Josh is the right man for Andi. I think she's playing it safe," Nick told Chris Harrison during After the Final Rose, adding that he's still in love with Andi and felt completely blindsided when she had dumped him.
Nick kept alluding to the fact he had been seriously misled, saying Andi had given him "so many reasons to be confident" in the connection they had.
Once Andi joined a heartbroken Nick on the stage, Nick began stumbling over his words. Andi told Nick she had read his letter, and things just spilled out from there.
Nick told Andi he'll be "eternally grateful" to her for showing him that real, true love exists. Andi assured Nick he did nothing wrong in getting to that point of love with her, however, she pointed out he deserves someone to reciprocate those strong feelings.
"The hard part is," Nick began.
"Knowing that I can't give that to you," Andi interjected, believing she had finished his sentence.
"Feeling like you did and being very sure of it," Nick corrected her. "I think that's the hard part, like watching it back, you know? It hasn't been fun. It's not like I watch it back and go, 'Oh that makes sense,' not to mention the things you don't watch."
Chris then asked Andi if she was ever in love with Nick or whether she had at least loved parts of him.
Andi replied, "I was not in love with him and that's why I didn't tell him I was in love with him. If I felt like I was in love with [Nick], I would have said that, and that's why I was very careful not to say that... At the end of the day, I know this sounds harsh, but how do you compete with a greater relationship? How do you compete with a greater love [like Josh]?... There was nothing wrong that Nick did," Andi explained.
"It's very tough to say," she added. "I probably should've said it months ago. It's very tough to say to someone's face. But at the end of the day, that is the truth."

"It's hard to hear that, you know?" Nick said. "I think the hardest part in hearing you say that is thinking back to those moments. And I guess, like, knowing how in love with you I was, if you weren't in love with me, I'm just not sure why you made love to me. Like I don't..."
"Well, first of all, I think that's kind of below the belt," Andi said in disbelief. "I think that's something that should be private and kept private."
Andi continued, "But... the things I said to you, the way I kissed you, the way I looked at you, those things were real. And your take on it might have been something different than mine, but it was real for me."
"And I'm not trying to put you below the belt or whatever..." Nick insisted.
"You already have," Andi pointed out.
"That's how you made me feel and you knew how I felt about you. I was very clear about that, and I didn't have any expectations of that night [in the fantasy suite]. But to me, that night, like, that was like fiancee-type of stuff," Nick revealed.
"It meant so much to me and I told you that. It meant something; It meant the world to me... I've had to replay that in my mind over and over and you knew how I felt. I just felt like it was a little cavalier."
Andi then said she did understand how Nick felt about her, which is why she chose to let him go before he picked out an engagement ring and before the actual Rose Ceremony. Andi claimed she had acted out of respect for Nick and their relationship.
