Nicki Minaj claims Mariah Carey had provoked her while judging American Idol's twelfth season and that's what led to her profane outburst in which she lashed out at the show's producers and Carey.

Sunday night's episode of Minaj's three-part reality special Nicki Minaj: My Truth featured footage which showed Minaj's reaction to the controversy as it had previously unfolded. The rapper and Idol judge gave her side of the story, justifying why she had said things such as she wanted to "knock out" Carey and couldn't put up with "her f-ckin' highness."
"I just know that I had reached my boiling point. Twenty minutes before that happened, she egged me on. And I was like, 'You know what? Let me go.' I walked off -- I like stormed off the stage -- because I didn't want to do that. So I left, and when I came back, it was another jab. And I said, 'Okay! Now I'm gonna show you who [I am]," Minaj explained on Nicki Minaj: My Truth.
"[Mariah's] admitted that she didn't want another female doing the show, thinking somebody's gonna come in here and steal her shine -- nitpicking, nitpicking, nitpicking -- and I don't do well with that passive-aggressive sh-t. I stay away from that sh-t, like I work and I keep it moving. I don't even f-ck with the people in this business."
Added the rapper, "I made it clear like, 'Do that again, I'm gonna do this again. I'm not gonna allow it no more.'"

Minaj initially thought joining Carey on Idol's judging panel would be a positive thing because she admitted she's always admired Carey for her singing talent. However, according to Minaj, Carey's alleged bad attitude forced a wedge between the two divas on the show.
"Actually, I'm happy that Mariah's on the panel, because I think that's a great thing. You've got one of the best singers that ever sang ever in the world -- aint nothing wrong with that. But the fact that you find a problem with me being on there, that's why there's an issue," she explained.
Minaj elaborated on how she felt about the big argument in a subsequent interview also broadcast during Nicki Minaj: My Truth.
"In life, you react, and what people saw was a reaction. Clearly, there was stuff leading up to it and it was just a lot of passive-aggressive comments," the rapper said, adding that she's optimistic about the rest of the Idol season.
"But we're going to keep it moving. We're having a great time on Idol. I love the producers. I love that they gave me a chance on the show. There aint nobody that's going to run me off that motherf-cking show play boy."
