"It is true when [they] say you kind of grow out of something. Nikki and I realized this year that it is time to say goodbye to Total Divas," Brie said on The Bellas Podcast.
Nikki and Brie, however, will continue to film their Total Bellas spinoff.

"What people don't realize is we filmed all year long," Nikki explained.
"When other people would get breaks from the reality cameras, Brie and I would be filming the next season of Bellas and then we'd go straight into Divas."
The girls therefore feel it's time to take a little break and have more personal time for themselves. After all, Brie is a mother and Nikki is enjoying her dating life after "hard times," including her difficult breakup from ex-fiance John Cena.
"With my breakup, that just showed me that when you have hard times and life and you keep filming, it's just really hard on someone mentally," Nikki shared. "We had to let go of one show just to keep sanity."
Nikki also admitted it was draining to have to watch her life play out on two different shows.

"When you have that bad moment in your life, you have to realize the bad. I know for me, that was exhausting, living my life twice," Nikki confessed.

And Brie said on her podcast she doesn't want Birdie to grow up in front of the cameras.
"I don't want her to think that it's a normal life," Brie said of her child, justifying the twins' decision to leave Total Divas even further.
Although Nikki and Brie will be "focusing on just Total Bellas" as well as their podcast going forward, the brunette beauties revealed they may make an appearance every now and then on future seasons of Total Divas because they've earned the right.

"Brie and I have been with the franchise from the beginning and have literally put out hearts and souls and our lives on TV," Nikki said, according to People.
"[We wanted to] help make it into a big franchise, to help make it a success, to truly change peoples minds about women in wrestling and how much women in the wrestling industry do in and out of the ring."
The fourth season of Total Bellas premiered on January 13.
Total Divas has been renewed for a ninth season and the show is expected to return later this year, according to Deadline.
