Move over, Ozzy Osbourne -- other one-time hard rock stars would like a piece of your TV turf. The Associated Press reports that Ted Nugent, once dubbed the "Michigan Madman" for his wild guitar work and on-stage behavior, will host a two-hour reality competition show on VH1. Meanwhile, former KISS frontman Gene Simmons is also seeking a reality-TV deal.

Nugent, a noted gun and outdoor enthusiast, hosts "Surviving Nugent," which VH1 will air on Oct. 5. The show features seven contestants, including -- according to the release -- "a vegan, a gay man, a New Yorker and a sex kitten." Since Nugent's love of hunting and of eating what he kills is well-known, we suspect the vegan will have a difficult time with Nugent's "Tooth, Fang and Claw" approach to reality TV. We hope that the "sex kitten" doesn't give Nugent "Cat Scratch Fever." And we might need to take a "Journey to the Center of the Mind" to understand why the network singled out that there was a New Yorker in the cast.
One-time rock critic Simmons, meanwhile, is now starring in a Canadian cartoon, "My Dad the Rock Star" ... which means he doesn't have to paint his face for filming every day. We wonder whether he intends to wear the KISS makeup for his reality show, if it happens, since no one would recognize him without it.
