Oxygen has announced it has ordered a new reality competition series that will aim to find the next Glee star.

Glee second-season episodes will begin airing in syndication on Oxygen next January, while the reality series is currently slated to debut in June.
"This is a unique syndication opportunity and we're thrilled to be working on it with Oxygen," said network executive Jason Klarman.
"This deal not only provides viewers with the opportunity to see even more of the drama, comedy, song and dance that they have come to expect from Glee, but also extends the reach of this pop-culture phenomenon's brand through a new reality series."
A Glee-themed reality project was first revealed by Fox at January's Television Critics Association's press tour when the network renewed Glee for a second season.
At the time, The Los Angeles Times reported that the reality project would document the show's casting search and air as a multi-part special leading up to its second-season premiere this fall.
"There's never really been an unscripted program like this on television before," said Fox reality chief Mike Darnell at the time.
However Glee creator Ryan Murphy suggested last week that the reality project was being scrapped so the show's production team could instead remain focused on the actual Fox series and other brand extensions, New York Magazine reported.
In addition, it was reported that Fox executives did not fight to keep the reality series on the network.
