The producers of the fourth installment of "The Simple Life" have decided to separate former best friends Paris Hilton and Nicole Richie.

This season, which will air on cable's E! Entertainment Network, will see Hilton and Richie living in a variety of homes separately, The Post reported.
The two will assume the head-of-household position in each home and the families will decide which one did a better job.
"The Simple Life" debuted on Fox in 2003 but the network passed on a fourth season after its stars had a public falling out, presumably over Richie's private screening of Hilton's notorious sex tape.
