The U.S. pathologist who performed a second autopsy on Anna Nicole Smith's son said findings indicate the son was taking an anti-depressant but not suicidal.
Cyril Wecht, who performed a second autopsy on Daniel Smith, 20, who died Sept 10 while visiting his mother in a Nassau hospital, said the victim had been taking a mild antidepressant, "but I'm not sure why," Life Style Extra said. Wecht, a noted pathologist from the United States, said "Everything was well under control," and nothing pointed to suicide, the newspaper said Tuesday.
The pathologist said toxicology tests should provide some answers as to why Daniel Smith died, the newspaper said. Foul play isn't suspected. The New York Daily News said Daniel Smith had lost weight and been hospitalized with stomach pains and a fast heartbeat last month, but it wasn't clear whether the symptoms were related to his medication.
Daniel Smith died while visiting his mother in the hospital, where she had given birth to his sister, Hannah Rose. The three had posed for photos, the News said.
Tissue, organ and toxicology samples were sent to U.S. labs for tests. A coroner's inquest is scheduled for Saturday in Nassau, Bahamas.
