NBC has announced President Obama's crash course in survival techniques will air December 17 at 10PM ET/PT.

President Obama will become the first U.S. president to appear on Grylls' show, during which he'll talk about what it means to be a father and husband at home while balancing his powerful job and responsibilities.

During this special Season 2 broadcast, President Obama and Grylls will visit Exit Glacier in Alaska and observe the effects of climate change, new resources, how to maintain a clean environment, and how to preserve the beauty of the Alaskan wilderness for generations to come.

The President called his experience in the great outdoors -- which already filmed -- "One of the best days of my presidency," according to the network.

The news of President Obama's participation first surfaced in August.

On the first season of Running Wild with Bear Grylls which aired in 2014, celebrities were challenged via one-on-one adventures with Grylls that lasted up to 48 hours. Survival skills were tested and they were pushed beyond their mental and physical limits. The participants included A-Listers Zac Efron, Channing Tatum, Kate Winslet and Kate Hudson. Season 2 aired this past summer and included Kate Hudson, Jesse Tyler Ferguson, Kate Winslet, Ed Helms, Michelle Rodriguez, James Marsden, Michael B. Jordan, and Drew Brees.

Running Wild with Bear Grylls is produced by Electus and Bear Grylls Ventures with Grylls, Ben Silverman, Chris Grant, Laura Caraccioli, and Viki Cacciatore serving as executive producers.
