A private viewing for Anna Nicole Smith was conducted at the Broward County Medical Examiner's office in Dania Beach, Fla., Wednesday, a lawyer said.

Smith, who died nearly two weeks ago, was embalmed, but medical examiner Joshua Perper said her body was deteriorating rapidly. Perper has custody of Smith's body while Broward County Circuit Judge Larry Seidlin determines who should receive the body for burial.
"I am pleased to say the family members have at least had an opportunity today to view their loved one in a dignified manner at the medical examiners office," Richard Milstein, an attorney appointed to represent Smith's 5-month-old daughter, Dannielynn, told the court after the viewing. The child is the subject of a paternity suit.
Milstein said the medical examiner's staff set up a comfortable room and "things progressed properly."
Details of the viewing were not revealed.
