Based on the fact that its ratings have been in a tailspin for over a year now, America's interest in ABC's The Bachelor would seem to be well on the wane -- to the point where it's now questionable if the series will even be part of the network's Fall 2005 schedule. However, up in Canada, The Bachelor's status as one of the few American reality shows that allows Canadians contestants has apparently kept the public's interest levels high -- at least among the western Canadian city of Edmonton, Alberta that has three of its native women competing on the show. And of course, with feverish interest tends to come spoilers -- information that Edmonton's reality-obsessed 96X FM morning radio show seems to have uncovered.

Seemingly obsessed with the show since it first learned that three of The Bachelor 7's bachelorettes had local Edmonton ties, 96X's The BJ & Shannon X-Perience morning show has spent the last month on a "quest" to track down as much information as possible about the series. Beginning with interviews with former Edmonton resident Geitan Villeneuve's mother, her mother's live-in boyfriend, and her estranged half-brother, 96X's radio show has stalked out as much information as it can about the participation of local girls Kim Choma, Jenny Adams, and (current Newport Beach, CA realtor) Geitan, culminating with two interviews with Geitan following her first episode elimination.
Among the minor nuggets uncovered by the show are the usual allegations of minor producer manipulation (claims that it was the producers that asked Geitan to come back and that Kristine decided to remove her top only at the producer's suggestion -- and after Jenny had already refused the same suggestion) and claims that Geitan is also a semi-finalist for the next season of NBC's The Apprentice.
But far more interesting is the hometown date spoiler information that the radio show appears to have uncovered. According to a local source that they've dubbed "The Penguin," camera crews were spotted filming Jenny and bachelor Charlie O'Connell on a hometown date at Edmonton's Sapphire Restaurant and Lounge. Additionally, a film crew was also spotted wrapping filming up at The Perogy House restaurant owned by Kim's parents, sparking speculation that both of the show's remaining Canadian bachelorette finalists are among the women who make it to the hometown date portion of the reality dating show.
As for Geitan, in an interview conducted yesterday, she made it pretty clear that despite Charlie's repeated on-camera claims that he's open to a serious relationship and willing to settle down, she's still not buying it. "Honestly, I think he's just not my type, I had little red flags going off that he was a 'player'... my opinion of him might be different from [that] of other people, I only had limited time interacting with him, but I personally don't find him very interesting or educated," she told the show. Prodded further about her feelings, Geitan eventually let loose how she really felt about him -- "He's a dog, he's a dirty dog and I wouldn't date him, are you kidding me?"
Asked if the radio show's perception that Charlie was simply a "stereotypical wannabe younger brother of the B-list star in Hollywood riding on the coattails and basically just enjoying good Hollywood parties and going from coast to coast" was accurate, Geitan quickly agreed.
Geitan also added that she felt that given her interest in the "Hollywood scene," Sarah W., the 24-year-old Los Angeles fashion design assistant who caught Charlie's attention during their second episode solo date, is her personal pick to get Charlie's final rose. "She's very much into the Hollywood scene too, so I think she'll probably fare pretty well in this game, [although] that's just my personal opinion -- she was name dropping when we were on the show and telling me who she knows... so I think that seeing that she's kinda from that same scene, I think they'll probably end up together," Geitan told the radio show.
However, that doesn't mean that Geitan's changed her opinion about Charlie being a 'player.' "I have to watch my P's and Q's and I have to kinda promote the show, I'm allowed to give my opinion and my opinion only and I had very limited dealing with him, so it's really hard for me, but I also think that I'm a little bit older than these girls and my intuition tells me... that I've dated enough 'players' to know the signs. My 'Playdar' was beeping really, really loud," said Geitan.
