According to preliminary affiliate based National Nielsen ratings., the CBS premiere of "Cupid" trounced its ABC "The Dating Experiment" reality competition on Wednesday, July 9 but still fell well short of NBC's all-powerful "Law & Order" in overall viewers.

"Cupid" (5.2/9, 7.63m) was first in adults 18-34 (3.2/11) and second in households, viewers, adults 18-49 (3.5/10) and adults 25-54 (3.8/10). "Cupid" dominated ABC's "The Dating Experiment" with a +108% advantage in households (5.2/09 vs. 2.5/04), +129% in adults 18-34 (3.2/11 vs. 1.4/05), +119% in adults 18-49 (3.5/10 vs. 1.6/05) and +138% in adults 25-54 (3.8/10 vs. 1.6/04). "Cupid" more than doubled the ABC show's viewer delivery (7.63m vs. 3.56m, +114%). NBC's "Law & Order" blew away "Cupid"'s 5.2 rating/9 share overall viewers score with a 8.8/16, the highest ratings of the entire night.
Compared to the time period last year, "Cupid" was up +24% in households (from 4.2/07), +68% in adults 18-34 (from 1.9/06), +46% in adults 18-49 (from 2.4/07) and +52% in adults 25-54 (from 2.5/07). "Cupid" added +1.84 million viewers from the time period last year (from 5.79m).
