It's apparently a good thing that nearly 3,000 miles normally separate Bravo's Orange County and New York City housewives.

The casts of The Real Housewives of Orange County and The Real Housewives of New York City met for the first time at Wednesday night's filming of the Bravo A-List Awards -- and it wasn't very cordial, People reported Friday, as there was a verbal squabble that allegedly became physical.

The Real Housewives of New York City "housewife" and former The Apprentice: Martha Stewart runner-up Bethenny Frankel told People the argument started when Orange County housewife Jeana Tomasina had issues with the award-show script given to them backstage.

"[The Orange County housewives] said in our material that my apartment is a two-by-four, and it's actually a one-by-two, and so I can take it, I don't care," Frankel told People.  "But they're offended that I'm saying something about them living 65 miles from the beach. Jeana said, 'I don't think that’s funny.'"

Apparently Frankel's reply to Tomasina wasn't very nice.

"Bethenny gave a dressing down in the dressing room to one of the [Orange County] housewives," The Real Housewives of New York City cast member Jill Zarin told People.

However Orange County housewife Tamra Barney claims it was more than just a verbal undressing that she received from Frankel.

"Bethenny scratched me a little bit. I swear to god," Barney told People.  "She tried to get me from behind and I put my arm up, and she scratched me. I covered it with makeup."

Not surprisingly, Frankel denied the altercation became physical but also wasn't exactly ready to let it go.

"Watch what happens," Frankel told People.  "Give me a can of hairspray and a match, and I'll take care of that in the dressing room later."

Barney -- apparently un-phased by the scratch -- is ready for a full-blown cat fight.

"The housewives of the O.C. can kick the housewives of NYC's ass!" she told People.
