David Archuleta is apparently hoping Rock Mafia Records will help him breakout with his debut album.

The American Idol seventh-season runner-up and his dad Jeff recently met with Rock Mafia producers Antonia Armato and Tim James, who co-wrote and co-produced eight of the songs on Miley Cyrus' latest "Breakout" album, E! News reported Tuesday.

"David knows he needs to have a big radio hit," a source told E! News. "Miley's producers are the closest thing he can get to a guarantee."

After the meeting with Armato and James -- who have also previously worked with Mariah Carey, Vanessa Hudgens and Aly & AJ -- Jeff and David were reportedly convinced they should be in business with Rock Mafia and decided to "proceed in that direction."

"They want a Miley touch to the album," the source told E! News.

Archuleta signed a recording contract with 19 Recordings/Jive Records two weeks after he finished second to Idol seventh-season champ David Cook.

Now that the 17-year-old Murray, UT native has met with Rock Mafia, the source told E! News that in the next two weeks he'll record at least two Rock Mafia-sanctioned songs that 19 Recordings would like to use as singles to support the debut album.

Archuleta's debut is currently slated to drop "sometime in November," according to E! News, which added it will be released the same day as Cook's 19 Recordings/RCA Records debut.
