There are few stages bigger than that of Fox's American Idol, but Ryan Seacrest has apparently found one.

The Idol host has been tabbed to serve as the master of ceremonies for next February's Super Bowl XLII at Arizona's University of Phoenix Stadium, Daily Variety reported Wednesday.

Not surprisingly, Super Bowl XLII will be the first in three years to air on Fox, so who better than Seacrest to helm both the pre-game hosting duties as well as serve as emcee during the halftime show, which generally attracts an audience of non-football fans.

The National Football League has yet to announce Super Bowl XLII's entertainment slate, Variety reported.  Recent acts to grace the halftime stage have included Prince, Paul McCarney, Janet Jackson and Justin Timberlake.
