Kate Gosselin apparently feels that her kids' safety is more important than sharing custody with her soon-to-be ex-husband.

"She doesn't feel comfortable allowing Jon to have custody when she can't trust him to keep them safe," a source told OK!. "When Jon starts acting like an adult, she'll reconsider."
The change of heart was sparked by an early August incident in which police were called to the family's Wernersville, PA home to break up a verbal argument that resulted from Jon refusing to allow Kate access to the property, according to the source.
According to Jon -- who had custody of their eight children at the time -- the argument occurred after Kate traveled to family's home after calling the house and learning he was using a babysitter who didn't meet her approval.
"It was a miscommunication. Kate said she was coming home and I said 'Well it's my time to spend time with the kids,'" Jon told a Splash News paparazzi cameraman the day after the August 13 incident. "I guess she didn't agree with my babysitting, but you know, I didn't approve hers... she didn't agree and that is something that we will have to work out with our attorneys and custody and all that stuff."
The unapproved babysitter was reportedly Stephanie Santoro, a 23-year-old single mom and former "shooter girl" at Legends, a local bar Jon visits regularly.
Kate filed for a no-fault divorce from Jon in June -- on the same day that a heavily-hyped Jon & Kate Plus 8 broadcast featured the Gosselins publicly announcing their separation.
During an interview on CNN's Larry King Live on Tuesday night, Kate said current custody of the kids was not arranged by a court and was instead set up "very peaceably" between Jon and herself.
In addition, she said the reason custodial time is spent at their Wernersville home is twofold -- because it is "not possible" to physically relocate eight children on a regular basis and because they financially couldn't afford two separate homes large enough to accommodate all the kids.
"We bought that house for the kids. It is the kids house, and it is the most stable, normal thing for them to remain there," Kate told King. "I do live there with them, and he does when he has the kids."
While Kate will now reportedly seek full custody of the children, the source told OK! that the Gosselin's 8-year-old twins Cara and Mandy may have the opportunity to choose which parent's house they call home.
