Troy Aikman may not be competing on Dancing with the Stars but another Super Bowl-winning retired NFL quarterback reportedly will be.

While Dancing with the Stars' prior seasons have featured several retired NFL players -- Michael Irvin, Jerry Rice, Emmitt Smith, Warren Sapp, and Lawrence Taylor -- as well as still-active players -- Jason Taylor and Chad Ochocinco -- Warner would be the first quarterback to compete on the ABC reality ballroom competition.
Last week, Aikman told a TMZ videographer he would be competing on Dancing with the Stars but later clarified he had only been joking.
Warner retired from the NFL in January following a 12-year-old playing career with the St. Louis Rams, New York Giants and Arizona Cardinals.
The 39-year-old led the Rams to a Super Bowl victory against the Tennessee Titans in 1999. He also made it back to the Super Bowl with the Rams in 2001 and the Cardinals in 2009 but his teams lost to the New England Patriots and Pittsburgh Steelers, respectively.
A five-time Pro Bowl selection, Warner entered the NFL as an undrafted free agent with the Rams in 1998 and is considered one of the league's most improbable success stories of all time.
ABC will formally announce Dancing with the Stars' eleventh-season cast during its August 30 broadcast of Bachelor Pad, the network's new The Bachelor franchise spinoff which will premiere next week.
