So much for MTV's reported ultimatum to Jersey Shore's first-season cast that it would film the second installment without them if they didn't accept the network's latest offer by Monday.

A deal could be reached by the end of the week, according to The Reporter, which added MTV is eager to begin filming so the second season can air in July or August.
However MTV's timetable could cause production problems since the summer season is still months way in New Jersey -- meaning a short production schedule or filming the season on a warmer climate might be needed to achieve the aforementioned air date goals, according to The Reporter.
MTV reportedly made the $10,000 an episode offer after the cast -- which is reportedly already technically under a contractual hold to the network for another year due to their first season contract -- rejected an earlier offer that would have paid them $5,000 an episode and a $10,000 signing bonus.
It was subsequently reported that MTV gave the cast members -- who were allegedly negotiating en masse in an attempt to strengthen their bargaining power and prevent the network from doing another Jersey Shore season with only some of them -- until the end of business Monday to accept its latest offer.
MTV did not return The Reporter's request for comment.
