The reality realm has provided celebrities the opportunity to do everything from dance to lose weight in-front of a television audience.  Now MTV is reportedly ready to show viewers how well celebrities can rap.

MTV is "close" to inking a development deal for Rapping with the Stars, a new reality competition series that will pair celebrities with hip-hop honchos, Daily Variety reported Thursday.

Rapping with the Stars will follow a similar format to that of ABC's Dancing with the Stars and Fox's short-lived Skating with Celebrities.  The MTV show will feature pairs pitted against one another in a series of different "rap-oriented musical challenges" critiqued by a judging panel of hip-hop experts, Variety reported.

MTV is reportedly currently negotiating with E! News anchor Giuliana DePandi (original The Apprentice winner Bill Rancic's fiancee) and Kimber Rickabaugh and Paul Miller from RickMills Productions and 3Arts Entertainment.  Although Variety failed to specify exactly what person's Rapping with the Stars role would be, DePandi would presumably host the series while Rickabaugh and Miller produced it.

Tony Disanto -- the MTV executive vice president who has also served as executive producer for Laguna Beach, Run's House, The Hills, and some of the network's other reality series -- is overseeing Rapping with the Stars, according to Variety.
