The Fox network may retain Nicole Richie in its hit U.S. show, "The Simple Life," despite co-star Paris Hilton's repeated comments that Richie is gone.

The network is not expected to make a decision for several weeks on the status of Richie, who had a falling out last month with Hilton, the New York Post reported Tuesday.

Hilton has said repeatedly in public that Richie is being replaced by Kimberly Stewart, daughter of famed rock star Rod Stewart.

"It's no big secret that Nicole and I are no longer friends," Hilton said in a statement. "Nicole knows what she did, and that's all I'm ever going to say about it."

The season finale of "The Simple Life: 3" airs Thursday.
