Catherine Giudici conducted an April Fools' Day joke about being pregnant with comedian Andy Dick's baby, and while that may seem harmless at first glance, her prank offended women with fertility issues.

"Social media. Is it a great way to connect with others or was it created by Satan himself? This is a question I often ask myself," Lowe, a 31-year-old former The Bachelor star wrote in his blog.
"My sweet wife posted what we both thought would be a funny April Fools prank on Instagram. Most people knew immediately that it was a joke of course and that she wasn't really pregnant."
Giudici, 28, got a stream of posts from angry followers who found her joke "offensive" and "insensitive" to women having trouble conceiving a baby. While Lowe understands where those people are coming from, he explained the innocent intent behind Giudici's pregnancy post.
"On nearly every picture Catherine posts on Instagram, she gets flooded with comments from people who tell her she looks pregnant. We understand that many of these people have no ill intent and are genuinely just hoping that we're pregnant because they want to see us start our family, and we totally get that," Lowe explained of his fit wife.
"But at the same time, it would be really tough for any woman to hear that 'she looks pregnant' on a daily basis when she's not... So that was the genesis of yesterday's post, it was playing off of the bombardment of pregnancy comments she reads every day and messing with those who post them."
Lowe said Giudici received some "really nasty" messages from critics, and while he's well aware there are a lot of people hurting out there who are struggling with fertility, "feelings of frustration and anger" didn't need to be taken out on his wife.
"My wife's Instagram is not the place to voice those feelings. The ironic part is that Catherine has a huge heart for women who are struggling with fertility. In fact, she was brought to tears just this past Saturday after a friend of ours told us she lost her child in the womb," Lowe wrote.
Giudici is "one of the most caring, compassionate people you will ever meet," he noted. "If you are one of those who are struggling with fertility, I promise Catherine's heart breaks for you."
Giudici had also addressed the controversy on Wednesday when she posted the following statement on Instagram: "About my earlier post, it was intended to be lighthearted and fun and certainly not insensitive. My heart goes out to all the women struggling with fertility."
