"Survivor: The Amazon" (11.4/17, 20.34m) won the time period in viewers and was a strong second in households, adults 25-54 (8.6/19, -0.1 behind NBC), adults 18-49 (7.7/19) and adults 18-34 (6.5/17) -- opposite one hour of "Friends." Although CBS' "Survivor: The Amazon" still by far won the reality showdown, all the counter-programming did have some effect, as the second episode's ratings were actually down from the 23.26 million viewers that it drew the previous week.

"Survivor: The Amazon" showed significant growth at 8:30PM, up +11% in households (12.0/18 from 10.8/16), +22% in adults 18-34 (7.2/18 from 5.9/16), +17% in adults 18-49 (8.3/19 from 7.1/18), +15% in adults 25-54 (9.2/20 from 8.0/18) and added +2.39m viewer (21.54m from 19.15m). In the first half-hour, SURVIVOR was in a virtual tie with "Friends" in viewers (19.15m vs. 19.47m).
