Shark Tank star Daymond John has revealed he recently battled thyroid cancer.

During a Wednesday appearance on Good Morning America, John recalled a startling discovery doctors made last year.
"I had an extensive physical and they discovered there was a nodule on my thyroid," the 48-year-old business mogul told Robin Roberts on GMA. "They said, 'You can take it out, and it may be something,' but they removed it and it was stage II cancer on my thyroid."
John's disclosure resulted in the audience audibly gasping and exchanging wide-eyed glances.
"You should have seen the reaction from me!" John noted with a laugh.

John, however, didn't allow the cancer diagnosis to get him down, as he continued working and making scheduled appearances.
"I didn't skip a beat," John said. "I got some early detections and I understood that I had a challenge and if I would attack it now, then I wouldn't have let it attack me."
John therefore underwent surgery and treatment as soon as possible.
"I had that removed," he said of the nodule. "I didn't miss anything. I was out partying and dancing two days later, not that I should have."
The CEO of the clothing brand FUBU gushed about how thankful he was that his doctor found the cancer in its early stages.

"I wanted to share this information with people because what would I have went through if I decided to just stick my head in the sand and go, 'You know what? I'm not going to check into stuff.' I would've really had some big, big problems," John explained.
John is currently feeling "absolutely great," but he admitted on GMA it's not exactly a situation he can attempt to forget and move on from.
"I have to monitor it for the rest of my life," John revealed. "I have another half of my thyroid still in. In the event it comes back, I will have to fight it."
John has starred on Shark Tank since the show premiered its first season in August 2009.
ABC is currently airing Season 8 of the popular series, which features current or aspiring business owners trying to convince extremely wealthy "sharks" to invest financial capital in their companies.
