The former America's Got Talent judge decided to have a 13-hour surgical operation in which both her breasts were removed after discovering she carries a gene that made her predisposed to developing breast cancer, the U.K.'s HELLO! magazine reported Monday.
"As soon as I found out I had the breast cancer gene, I thought, 'The odds are not in my favour,'" Osbourne, who contracted colon cancer 10 years ago but successfully fought the disease, told HELLO! "I've had cancer before and I didn't want to live under that cloud: I decided to just take everything off, and had a double mastectomy."
"For me, it wasn't a big decision, it was a no-brainer," she said. "I didn't want to live the rest of my life with that shadow hanging over me. I want to be around for a long time and be a grandmother to [son Jack Osbourne's daughter] Pearl."
Osbourne explained her surgery came in the form of relief, as she wanted to reduce her risk of getting cancer again and enjoy life without the added stress and worry.

"It's not 'pity me,' it's a decision I made that's got rid of this weight that I was carrying around," Osbourne told HELLO! "I didn't even think of my breasts in a nostalgic way, I just wanted to be able to live my life without that fear all the time."
The breast cancer gene scare isn't the only problem Osbourne has recently encountered regarding her chest. Before undergoing the double mastectomy, her breast implants had reportedly leaked into the wall of her stomach. Due to everything she has experienced with her body, Osbourne told the magazine she's never getting plastic surgery again.
"Sometimes I'll see a photo and I'll think, 'My face looks plastic;' it can look so unnatural from certain angles," Osbourne added. "Now I am definitely, definitely done. You can't buy your youth back, no matter how much money you've got. I won't be going under the knife again."
