In a statement on her Web site Tuesday, singer Britney Spears confirmed she was pregnant.

"The time has finally come to share our wonderful news that we are expecting our first child together," Spears wrote.

The statement came the same day the Star magazine published a story that said unnamed sources said Spears, accompanied by her husband, Kevin Federline, had been rushed to the emergency room of Sacred Heart Hospital in West Destin, Fla., Friday and that her jeans were "stained with blood," but that she did not miscarry, E! Online reported.

The Star reported that Spears was treated at Fort Walton Beach Medical Center for premature separation of the placenta. Neither hospital confirmed treating Spears, however, she said in her statement: "There are reports that I was in the hospital this weekend, Kevin and I just want everyone to know that all is well. Thank you for your thoughts and prayers."
