"My mom said it best, you know, 'Nothing is a shoo-in, nothing is guaranteed, so you really have to give your best each time and pray that it will work out,'" Spensha told Reality TV World during a media call.
After performing in her Battle, Spensha was complimented on her huge stage presence and ability to morph a song. But Alicia Keys picked Dallas to win because of her potential in the competition, and Adam gushed about how Dallas could be the next Danielle Bradbery.
So when asked whether she was surprised to win her Battle -- because even Blake confessed there wasn't a clear winner -- Spensha said, "Everything surprises me in this process of being on The Voice, for sure."
Spensha reasoned, "I knew when I found out Dallas was going to be my Battle partner that this was going to be interesting but also challenging as well, because she is so amazing."
Spensha thought all of the kind words the coaches had to say was "amazing" as well.
"I appreciate all the good things they said about me, but everything they said about Dallas is absolutely true too," Spensha told Reality TV World. "She is, I think, you know, the next big country star and she's amazing. So I actually agreed with them."
She added, "I was surprised to win, but I think this experience is good for everybody involved. I think we are all so grateful when we are chosen, and so, that's sort of how I felt during the Battle."
Blake explained he chose Spensha as the winner because she can "blow the mind of Nashville" and "turn the world of country music on its ear."
"I think country, you know, I always say that my voice has a soulful aspect to it. I think we can hear a little bit more of that on country radio right now. And so, I think in terms of musical direction, that's sort of the lane that I would fit into, along the lines of Chris Stapleton and Maren Morris, etc," Spensha said.
"So you would have to ask Blake sort of about the details of what he meant, but to me, the reason it meant a lot is because this is a new genre for me. I'm sort of finding my footing, but I know what direction I want to go in, and I think he sees that as well."
Alicia ended up stealing Dallas for her own team, but Spensha will continue on to the Knockout Round as a member of "Team Blake."

Spensha said she and Blake "work well together" and she's happy that he has showed "how much he truly believes in me."
"So yeah," Spensha noted to Reality TV World, "I'm excited about seeing what happens."
The Knockout Round will commence next week with previous The Voice winners returning to advise Blake, Alicia, Adam and Kelly Clarkson's teams.
