Although he missed last night's performance show, Dancing with the Stars competitor Stephen "Steve-O" Glover says he expects to be able to continue in the competition -- assuming he survives tonight's results show elimination, of course.

"Physically, I feel pretty good today," the former Jackass and Dr. Steve-O star wrote in a Tuesday afternoon posting on his jackassworld.com blog. "If I get the opportunity, I don't see any reason why I shouldn't be able to learn and perform a great 'fox trot' routine."
Glover was forced to miss Monday night's Dancing with the Stars performance show after he injured his back during a dress rehearsal performance that took place a couple of hours before the live broadcast. The injury occurred when Glover -- overruling the objections of professional partner Lacey Schwimmer -- decided to add a front flip to the end of the pair's salsa performance and landed on a microphone pack that had been placed on his lower back.
Schwimmer had described the incident to Dancing with the Stars host Tom Bergeron during Monday night's live broadcast.
"He decided to do this front flip at the last minute today and he landed straight on his back on the microphone pack. And then we went backstage... It was pretty bad," Schwimmer told Bergeron. "He iced it, [the swelling] went down, and then we rehearsed backstage and [on] this other little move he slipped on and he hit my hip bone right on the edge of his spine and he started swelling up instantly. It's really large and it's really scary."

Glover was immediately taken to a nearby hospital, where doctors had managed to rule out broken bones but were still conducting additional evaluation as the Monday night broadcast aired.
"Well nothing's broken, so that's amazing, but there are many other things that could be wrong," Schwimmer told Bergeron during the second hour of Monday's two-hour broadcast.
Now that he's had a chance to look back his decision, Glover -- who had already been experiencing back problems before Monday's incident -- admits he was foolish to overrule Schwimmer and insist on adding the flip to their routine.
"With 20/20 hindsight, I must admit that I exercised very poor judgment yesterday," Glover wrote on his blog. "Jumping flat onto a bad back with a microphone pack strapped to it was sensationally idiotic, especially after Lacey told me what a bad idea she thought it was. I was a real jerk to insist upon doing that. I really hope that I get the chance to stay in the competition and make it up Lacey and everyone else."
Since Glover and Schwimmer could not perform their salsa dance, the couple's pre-recorded dress rehearsal of their dance was shown for judges Len Goodman, Bruno Tonioli and Carrie Ann Inaba to score instead, as per the show's official rules.

Despite the unfortunate situation, the judges were harsh on the performance and questioned why a proper salsa routine would even feature a flip. They gave the performance a score of 14 out of 30, giving Glover and Schwimmer a lackluster 31 out of 60 combined score for their first two Dancing with the Stars performances.
Dancing with the Stars' first elimination show will air tonight at 9PM ET/PT on ABC.
