Prime also confirmed it renewed the show prior to the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes, and will not begin production until the strikes are resolved.

Season 3 will be 10 episodes. Season 1 only had seven and Season 2 has eight.

Prime says Summer Season 2 doubled the entire Season 1 viewership in its first three days July 14-16. However, Prime did not release the specific viewership numbers, only to say that Season 2 is one of the 10 most watched series on its streaming service.

The Summer I Turned Pretty is based on a trilogy of books by Jenny Han, author of To All the Boys I Loved Before. To All the Boys became a trilogy of films on Netflix and spawned the spinoff series XO, Kitty.

Summer stars Lola Tung as Belly, a girl who falls in love with brothers Conrad (Christopher Briney) and Jeremiah (Gavin Casalegno) while spending the summer at the boys' family beach house. Jackie Chung plays Belly's mother, Laurel.

Han showruns with Sarah Kucserka.
