As Survivor: Micronesia -- Fans vs Favorites continues to move towards its conclusion, host Jeff Probst already has his sights set on the location for the long-running CBS reality show's seventeenth season.

"[It's] probably as remote as we've ever been," said Probst. "The place we're going is one of the last of its kind. It's so wild out there and the animals aren't used to anybody."
Probst's comments would seem to fit well with recent online rumors that Survivor's next edition will film in Gabon, a west-central African country along the equator that borders Guinea, Cameroon, Republic of the Congo and the Gulf of Guinea.
Should Gabon be the location of Survivor's seventeenth season, it would represent the first installment of the series to film in Africa since the show's Fall 2001 third edition -- Survivor: Africa -- which shot in Kenya.
CBS will formally announce Survivor's seventeenth season location at the conclusion of Survivor: Micronesia -- Fans vs. Favorites live reunion show broadcast on May 11. The show scheduled to begin filming in June, according to USA Today.
