SurvivorNews.net reports that Survivor 6 will film in the Amazon -- not in the Philippines as reported in earlier media reports.

The exact source of the Philippine President's confusion is unclear, but it appears to be related to the fact that the JAPANESE version of Survivor is currently filming in the Philippines. Survivor staffers also apparently met with Philippino government staffers recently, but that was to discuss the possibility of filming future editions in the country.

Survivor 6 is using the Ariau Towers Hotel for their base camp and filming on the Rio Negro. The hotel is a collection of buildings on stilts high in the Amazon rain forest canopy connected by catwalks and located at the juncture of the Rio Negro and Ariau Creek, about 40 km west of Manaus.
