Survivor: The Amazon alum Roger Sexton has passed away at age 76 following a long battle with dementia.

The father, grandfather, husband, brother, Marine and former reality TV star died on October 26 in his daughter and son-in-law's home surrounded by family, according to Roger's obituary.

Roger fought a "valiant courageous battle" with Lewy Body Dementia, the second most common type of progressive dementia after Alzheimer's disease. Protein deposits called Lewy bodies develop in nerve cells in the brain regions involved in thinking, memory and movement, according to Mayo Clinic.

Roger competed on Season 6 of Survivor all the way back in 2002.

Roger lasted 21 days in the game but was blindsided by his Jacare Tribe.

Roger was the first castaway voted out of Survivor: The Amazon after the merge and was the seventh castaway to exit the game overall. He placed tenth on the season.

"Confidence, discipline, and determination to succeed were all vital components to Roger's character, which assisted him in being cast on... Survivor," his obituary read.

"However, the other more challenging aspects of his character eventually prevailed, leading to his eventual demise, but provided lasting memories of the exacerbating force that was Roger."

The Oakland, CA, native, who enjoyed wrestling and skiing growing up, enlisted in the United States Marine Corps, serving his country in Vietnam from 1966 to 1967.

Roger married his late wife Diane Rodrick in September 1968, and then he attended California Polytechnic Institute San Louis Obispo.

He earned his degree in Construction Management and ultimately became Senior Estimator/Vice President for Tutor Perini Construction.

"His constant drive and amazing physicality allowed him a lifelong pursuit of his love for backpacking in the high country of the Sierra Nevada's; skiing the powdered bowls of California, Utah, Idaho, Montana, and Colorado; mastering the powdered terrain while helicopter skiing in the Ruby Mountains; and riding the dusty trails of Southern California on his mountain bike," his obituary read.

Roger is survived by his wife, Diane, of 54 years; his daughter Amy; his grandchildren, Drew and Hadley Evensen; and his two sisters ,Pamela Mills and Patricia Markowitz; as well as numerous friends, cousins, nieces and nephews.

Roger had welcomed another daughter, Heather, with his wife, but Heather passed away from viral pneumonia in October 1992.
