CBS's Thursday lineup, featuring the 90-minute premiere of SURVIVOR: THE AMAZON and a special 90-minute edition of CSI: CRIME SCENE INVESTIGATION, topped NBC's "super-sized, superstar" lineup. CBS won Thursday in viewers (an average of 25.24 million), more than five million viewers more than NBC's (19.84m). CBS also won the night in NBC's target adult 18-49 demographic (9.9/25 vs. 9.5/24) as well as adults 25-54 (11.4/25 vs. 10.1/13) and households (15.0/23 vs. 13.0/20) This is CBS's best household, viewer and adults 25-54 performance since 5/3/01, the night of the SURIVOR: THE AUSTRALIAN OUTBACK finale, and best adults 18-49 delivery since 1/10/02, the night of the SURVIVOR: AFRICA finale.
The win marked CBS's first Thursday victory in a February Sweep (excluding Olympics programming) in viewers, households and key adult demographics since Feb. 18, 1993 ("Top Cops," finale of "Alex Haley's Queen" mini-series). CSI: CRIME SCENE INVESTIGATION became the first drama to top a first run "ER" ever in households, viewers and key demographics.
