Survivor: David vs. Goliath premieres on Wednesday night, and according to longtime Survivor host Jeff Probst, a new twist will be introduced.

The twist will be "an idol nullifier" that, when played effectively, will completely cancel out someone's strategic hidden-Immunity Idol play at a Tribal Council, Us reported. The idol played will therefore become null and void thanks to the twist.
"The idol nullifier is something we've considered putting into the show for a few years and this just seemed like the right time," Jeff explained to the magazine.
"The idol nullifier has the power to block an immunity idol. But you must make your decision about who to play the nullifier against before anyone actually plays an idol. So information is key, because you need to be certain an idol is being played and for whom."
Jeff added, "But if you guess right, it's a devastating blow that can flip the game on its head."
Survivor: David vs. Goliath will divide the 20 castaways into two groups of 10 strangers.
The players include a professional wrestler, a robotics scientist, an MMA fighter, a physician, and a S.W.A.T. officer.

Survivor's next edition will chronicle people perceived as underdogs -- who have had to overcome many obstacles in life -- pitted against accomplished or charming individuals, who may be strong, well educated or born wealthy.
CBS says every Goliath "has an Achilles heel," while every David "has a secret weapon."
"The biggest commitment was being true to the division of the tribes and not get stuck trying to balance the tribes in terms of strength or weakness. It's very clear in Episode 1 that we loaded the Goliaths with the clear physical advantage," Jeff teased to Us.

"But what keeps Survivor interesting is the unknown. You don't know what the advantage is until you know the situation. So you never know what skills will come in handy. Sometimes being big and strong is an advantage, sometimes it's not. That's the experiment this season. Which group will be best at capitalizing on every advantage?"
Jeff said producers have assembled another "amazing group of players" this season who will certainly play hard and entertain viewers.
